Previously, the issue of Google Pixel devices experiencing image retention has been a major concern. As soon as rumors of Google Pixel screen retention issues surfaced, Google promptly introduced the Android 8.1 Developer Preview update for its devices.
Users can now download and install this update after unlocking the bootloader on their device. Participants of the Android Beta Program can download the update over the air (OTA). However, this trial version is only compatible with Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL devices.
Android Oreo 8.1 Developer Preview is developed based on Android Oreo and re-integrates some previous features. Alongside, some features have been altered, including notifications, where apps will now only sound notifications once per second. Moreover, in the Android Oreo 8.1 trial version, there's an intriguing detail (Easter egg): the Android Oreo logo now resembles a cookie more closely.
Other features in the trial version have minimal impact on users, and it's likely that the secret chip in Pixel devices, known as Pixel Visual Core, Google's first custom SoC ever, will be activated after updating to version 8.1.
Despite the integrated image processor on both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, it remains unused. Google has announced plans to activate this processor in the coming months to enhance image processing. Additionally, HDR+ is available for third-party developers.
In addition, devices listed for Android 8.0 updates have had their update schedules officially announced by manufacturers. To find out devices upgraded to Android 8, please refer to previous articles updated by Mytour.vn to plan update checks on your Android smartphone.
