Android is set to be equipped with a feature akin to iOS AirDrop, specifically named Fast Share . According to 9to5Google, Fast Share will utilize a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections to share files and even text snippets between nearby devices. Once activated, users will see a list of Fast Share-enabled devices nearby and can begin sharing content.

Additionally, the feature allows users to designate preferred visibility on nearby devices, so others can see them even if they're not using Fast Share.
It's highly likely the new feature will be available on Chromebooks, iOS devices, and even Wear OS smartwatches. However, the iOS version will require a separate app.
It's currently uncertain when Google will officially release Fast Share, and the new feature may not require users' devices to run Android Q.
Not long ago, Google confirmed that Android Q will not utilize the NFC-based Android Beam sharing method. Therefore, Fast Share might be the only solution for Android users to share and send files between devices without relying on other apps (such as Google's Files app).
