Announcement: Online user presence restored on Skype v8

It appears that Microsoft is striving to restore the familiar Skype experience for users, following the upgrade to version 8. Specifically, the online user notification feature has been reintroduced on Skype v8.

Starting from the latest version Skype 8.43.76.38 now available for Insiders, users can enable notifications whenever someone comes online.

Unlike in previous versions of Skype, these notifications are not enabled by default, so users need to access Settings => Notifications and activate the Contact comes online notification option.

This is just one of the latest updates Microsoft is implementing to entice users to stick with Skype. Last week, the company also announced the rollout of the screen sharing feature on the mobile app, a feature exclusive to and long existing on the desktop version.
