Anticipating the ROG Phone 8 Concept: Sleeker Design, Powerful Configuration, and a Massive 6,000 mAh Battery

In April 2023, ASUS officially unveiled the ROG Phone 7 with impressive features. Consequently, there's more attention towards its successor, the ROG Phone 8. What's new with the ROG Phone 8? Here are some of my expectations for this smartphone.

The ROG Phone 8 concept features a unique design, embodying the distinctive gaming characteristics of ROG.

When it comes to the ROG Phone series, we easily recall a smartphone with a unique and impressive appearance. One standout example is the ROG Phone 7, which was launched in April 2023. Therefore, we can fully expect a successor, the ROG Phone 8, to inherit its core features. However, the visual image and design concept of the ROG Phone 8 have not yet been revealed, so I will use the design concept of the ROG Phone 2021 created by the channel PHConcepts. This is also the appearance that I hope the ROG Phone 8 will have in the future.

The device in the video segment has a relatively compact overall form and a somewhat square frame, with sharper corners compared to its predecessor. However, the corners of this frame will still be rounded to allow users to hold it comfortably and not snag when placed in a pocket. I think this is reasonable because the design of current smartphones on the market follows the square trend.

When discussing the exterior of the ROG Phone 8, we cannot overlook the design of the device's back. In this aspect, ASUS has been innovating the back design of devices in the ROG Phone series to be increasingly refined and somewhat more minimalist, yet still exuding the inherent dynamic gaming vibe as seen in the ROG Phone 7 generation. Therefore, I am highly anticipating ASUS to continue this approach for the ROG Phone 8 in the future.

Specifically, I hope the ROG Phone 8 will have a back design similar to the device in the concept video above. This section will have a smooth color with raised patterns to increase the uniqueness of the phone. Additionally, the ROG logo will be designed with a moderate size, slightly offset towards the bottom of the device. Lastly, RGB LED lights will be equipped for the ROG logo to enhance the special features of the ROG Phone 8.

The ROG Phone 8 boasts powerful specifications with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, making it easy to conquer various gaming titles.

Alongside an eye-catching exterior, I also anticipate the ROG Phone 8 to possess powerful hardware specifications to handle various games. To achieve this, it's obvious that the ROG Phone 8 will be powered by a high-end chip, and my choice is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. According to numerous leaks, this is expected to be a successor version with significant improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 equipped in the previous ROG Phone 7.

Furthermore, I also hope that the ROG Phone 8 will feature 16 GB of RAM for users to multitask comfortably, while tasks are processed faster by the device. Accompanying this will be two options for internal storage: 512 GB or 1 TB, allowing us to comfortably download our favorite games and store data.

Based on my expectations, the specific hardware specifications of the ROG Phone 8 will be as follows:

• Display: 6.8-inch size, AMOLED panel, Full HD+ resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate
• CPU: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2.
• RAM: 16 GB.
• Internal Storage: 512 GB or 1 TB.

• Front Camera: 12 MP.
• Battery: 6,000 mAh.

The ROG Phone 8 will feature a 165 Hz display along with a large 6,000 mAh battery.

To be able to game on the ROG Phone 8 for extended periods, it's essential to equip the device with a large battery. In the predecessor ROG Phone 7 generation, I was very impressed when ASUS equipped the phone with a 6,000 mAh battery. Therefore, I hope that the battery of the ROG Phone 8 will also have a similar or higher capacity.

As for the display, I expect the ROG Phone 8 to feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, Full HD+ resolution, and support for a 165 Hz refresh rate.

The display specifications I anticipate for the ROG Phone 8 are not significantly different from the previous generation. However, the 6.8-inch screen size of the ROG Phone 8 (larger than the 6.78-inch ROG Phone 7) will provide us with a spacious display area and sharp image quality.

How much will the ROG Phone 8 cost? When will the ROG Phone 8 be released?

As of now, information regarding the price and release date of the ROG Phone 8 remains uncertain. However, based on its predecessor, the ROG Phone 8 is likely to be launched in the second quarter of 2024 with a price ranging from 21 to 22 million Vietnamese dong for the standard version.
