Apple cancels plans for 27-inch external monitor with Mini-LED backlight

Initially, Young predicted this would launch in 2022, but the release has yet to materialize.

In a tweet shared with paying subscribers today, Young stated that Apple has 'terminated' the 'current' display for unclear reasons. The analyst did not provide an explanation for Apple's decision, and it's unclear whether the company is only pausing development or canceling this 27-inch Mini-LED monitor altogether.

Young previously stated that the monitor would support ProMotion, allowing for refresh rates up to 120Hz. With a 27-inch size, this could be either a successor to or positioned below the Pro Display XDR.

Apple released the Studio Display in March 2022 alongside . The monitor has not received any hardware updates since its launch.
