Following the ban, the company is not allowed to import Apple Watches equipped with blood oxygen sensors into the US from overseas, where they are manufactured. This ban came into effect on December 21 on their website and will affect retail stores on December 24.
Apple ceases repair services for Apple Watch series 6 and above modelsAdditionally, the ban also prevents Apple from repairing Apple Watch devices no longer under warranty in the US after December 25, 2023. Instead of repairing a single component, Apple Watch repairs often involve replacing a faulty part.
Apple shared a memo this week to notify retailers about this news. Bloomberg shared some excerpts from the memo: “Product replacement programs are not available in the US for watches below: 6 and above, Apple Watch Ultra and above”.
Therefore, any Apple Watch with a blood oxygen sensor that is out of warranty, including Apple Watch Ultra and Series 6 models and above, will not receive repair services from the company. Users who damage their Apple Watches will have to wait for repairs until this ban expires.
For these product lines, customers will only receive support for software-related issues, such as resetting the operating system, and cannot request hardware component replacements from the manufacturer.
