It's been reported that this latest trial version emerges just over a week after Apple officially rolled out iOS 17 for users.
Apple rolls out the first beta of iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1Developers who have registered can opt to participate in the beta by opening the Settings app, navigating to the Software Update section, clicking on the 'Update Beta' option, and enabling the iOS or iPadOS 17 Developer Beta. An Apple ID linked to a developer account is necessary to download and install the beta.
It remains unclear what new features the initial beta of iOS/iPadOS 17.1 brings. Some features of iOS 17 are still absent from the first official release, including the Journal app, collaborative Apple Music playlists, the option to continue AirDrop transfers over the internet, the ability to use stickers as Tapback reactions in the Messages app, arrows to update missed conversations in the Messages app, favorite song playlists in Apple Music, and various other minor changes.
Apple has announced that all these features will be included in a future update, so we may see some of these changes in the iOS 17.1 update.
