Apple is in the process of developing a groundbreaking battery set to launch in 2025Technology Specifically, Apple will manage the anode material of the battery to determine performance, energy density, power, and stability. The battery developed by Apple will use entirely different components than those currently on the market, including nickel, cobalt, manganese, and aluminum.
The 'Apple House' is also exploring the use of nano carbon tubes to enhance the electrical conductivity of the battery material, providing better performance from less commonly used battery materials. Apple is also looking to increase the silicon content in the battery, replacing lead to increase capacity, shorten charging and discharging times.
A familiar source familiar with Apple's plans suggests to ETNews that the high-performance battery demand has significantly increased with the introduction of the Vision Pro augmented reality glasses. This product currently only has a two-hour battery life, while other devices like and still have 'all-day' battery life since their introduction.
Apple's custom battery project is believed to be closely linked with the company's electric car venture, but mobile applications are currently the primary focus of the technology. It is expected to start being integrated into Apple devices from 2025 onwards.
