Apple is developing a HomePod speaker with a curved LCD screen

The device with the codename B720 appears to have a design similar to the current HomePod but with a curved LCD screen, protruding at the top to display content.

In October, Kosutami shared images of what are purported to be the touchscreen components of the prototype HomePod being developed by Apple. Other reports at that time claimed to have verified the legitimacy of these images through other sources.

'Apple' is reportedly working to adjust Apple Music and Apple Podcasts to be compatible with the new screen. It will display blurred dynamic images based on the colors of the album cover when a song or podcast is playing. The screen can also show important notifications.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg was the first to suggest in 2021 that Apple is developing a new HomePod with a screen. Earlier this year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed Apple plans to release a redesigned HomePod with a 7-inch screen in the first half of 2024.

According to Gurman, in the long term, Apple is reportedly reevaluating its smart home strategy and exploring a device combining Apple TV and HomePod, as well as a HomePod with a screen mounted on an arm.
