In the latest report from The Elec, Apple is indicating interest to suppliers in bringing a bezel-less display to the iPhone.
Apple appears to be in talks with Samsung and LG Display to develop a new OLED display, aiming to alter the current look of the iPhone with a borderless screen. While other brands are increasingly launching smartphones with curved screens, Apple is concerned that it may lead to optical distortion and lack of durability.

The flat screen design aids Apple in packaging, enhancing the camera (UPC), and increasing space for internal components. If a curved screen is employed, these improvements would be challenging to implement.
The successor to the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025 is expected to feature a bezel-less display, with Face ID concealed next to the notch housing the front camera. It is highly likely that the first device equipped with custom microLED screen technology will be the Apple Watch Ultra 2025, followed by its application to the iPhone. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max/Ultra could potentially be the phones equipped with the thinnest screen bezels, measuring only 1.55mm.
