Apple has just released a new service, making it easier and faster to transfer photo and video data from iCloud to Google Photos. To use this service, users need to access and log in to Apple's privacy website to activate it under the 'Transfer a copy of your data' section.Apple will continue to store photo and video data in iCloud after users perform this conversion, and Google Photos will also back up and store this data as soon as it receives it. The data transfer process will take approximately 3-7 days as Apple needs to verify that you are the one requesting the data transfer. Therefore, to perform this conversion, users need to enable two-factor authentication for their Apple ID, as well as have an account on Google Photos with sufficient storage capacity to accommodate the transferred data.
- Some data cannot be transferred using this service, including data in Smart Albums, Live Photos, photo streams, metadata, and some RAW photos.
Image and video formats such as .jpg, .png, .webp, .gif, some RAW files, .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv can all be transferred using this new service. The service for transferring photos and videos from iCloud to Google Photos is currently only available in the US, Australia, Canada, EU, UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland.
