Alongside Mac Studio, Apple introduces another new Mac Pro equipped with M2 Ultra chip featuring a design similar to the 2019 Mac Pro.
All current Apple Mac products have transitioned to using Apple Silicon. The Mac Pro features eight Thunderbolt ports and 7 PCIe slots, with 6 slots supporting PCIe Gen 4 for expansion modules. The base configuration of the Mac Pro starts at $6999 (~165 million VND).
All current Apple Mac products have transitioned to using Apple Silicon.According to Apple, these PCIe slots are used to upgrade digital signal processing (DSP) cards, requiring I/O cards for serial digital interface (SDI) to connect to professional cameras and displays, additional networking, and storage. Thus, these PCIe slots are highly unlikely to support discrete graphics cards.
Mac Pro features eight Thunderbolt ports and 7 PCIe slots. The M2 Ultra-powered Mac Pro features a 24-core CPU, up to a 76-core GPU, and 192 GB of RAM. It also includes two HDMI ports, dual 10-gigabit Ethernet, and a 32-core Neural Engine for machine learning tasks. It comes with the latest wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
Key specifications of the M2 UltraSpecifically, Apple states that the M2 Ultra is the largest and highest-performing chip they have ever created, making the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro the most powerful desktop Macs ever produced. The M2 Ultra is built on the second-generation 5-nanometer process and utilizes Apple's breakthrough UltraFusion technology to connect the dies of two M2 Max chips, doubling its performance.
The M2 Ultra includes 134 billion transistors — over 20 billion more than the M1 Ultra. Its unified memory architecture supports memory capacities up to 192GB, over 50% more than the M1 Ultra, with a memory bandwidth of 800GB/s — double that of the M2 Max.
Key specifications of the M2 UltraThe M2 Ultra features a more powerful CPU, 20% faster than the M1 Ultra, a larger GPU, up to 30% faster, and a Neural Engine that's up to 40% faster. It also boasts a media engine twice as powerful as the M2 Max to accelerate ProRes video processing.
M2 Ultra delivers processing performance over 20% greater than that of the M1 Ultra. The new Mac Pro is available for pre-order today and will begin shipping next week (additional wait may be required for the Vietnamese market).
