Apple begins selling standalone USB-C charging case for AirPods Pro.Orders for the USB-C charging case placed today will be delivered to customers from December 27 to January 2, after the Christmas holiday period.
Apple introduced the new version of AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C charging case in September, but at that time, there was no option to purchase the charging case separately. Customers using AirPods Pro 2 with Lightning charging case had no upgrade path, but those who want USB-C charging across all their devices can now pay $99 for the new version.
The USB-C charging case is compatible with second-generation AirPods Pro. It also continues to provide MagSafe wireless charging feature, similar to the Lightning port variant.
In addition to the USB-C port, the AirPods Pro 2 charging case also offers improved IP54 water and dust resistance, but it will not support lossless audio for the Vision Pro augmented reality glasses, as this is a feature added to the latest version of AirPods Pro 2.
