According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release new MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch models with options for M2 Pro and M2 Max chips early next year. These models were initially expected to launch this year but are reportedly delayed due to internal setbacks.
No major changes are expected for the upcoming 14-inch or 16-inch MacBook Pro models apart from upgraded chip options and possibly faster RAM.
The current MacBook Pro models with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips were released in October 2021 featuring a completely new design, along with the return of HDMI, MagSafe, and SD card reader. Macs typically undergo several years between redesigns, so the 2023 MacBook Pro is expected to only see specification changes.
Gurman also mentions a new iMac with M3 chip 'could potentially debut as early as late 2023' without sharing any further details. The current 24-inch iMac was released in April 2021 with an M1 chip and a slim, colorful design. Gurman previously stated that Apple had plans to skip releasing an iMac with M2 chip. However, he added that Apple is still interested in a new iMac Pro with Apple silicon.
According to Gurman, Apple is also continuing to test new models of Mac mini with options for M2 and M2 Pro chips, but no release timeframe has been shared.
