Initially rolled out in the US and the UK, this feature appears as an 'Add Song' button on TikTok videos, enabling users to save the track to their chosen default streaming service or selected playlist.
Saving music from TikTok to playlists.Ole Obermann, TikTok's Global Head of Music Business Development, underscores the app's role in connecting artists with a global audience and driving engagement with their music.
He states: “TikTok is currently the world's most powerful platform for discovering and promoting music, enabling artists to connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music.” The Add to Music app enhances this process further, establishing a direct link between TikTok's discovery capabilities and consumption on streaming services, making it easier than ever for music enthusiasts to enjoy full-length tracks on their chosen streaming platforms, thereby creating greater value for artists and rights holders.
Upon first use, this feature will prompt users to select their preferred music streaming service, which will become the default service for future use. Songs added through this method will be saved to a new playlist in the desired music app, although users can opt for different playlists.
For Amazon Music, Prime members and Amazon Music Unlimited customers can access 'Add to Music app,' allowing them to save songs to the 'TikTok Songs' playlist or other playlists of their choice. Saved songs will default to the 'Liked Songs' playlist on Spotify.
