Apple officially releases iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1According to Apple's release notes, iOS 17.1 adds options for favorite songs, albums, playlists, favorite artists, and more, with the added content going to the Library and used for recommendations. You can now favorite from the lock screen using the Now Playing widget. Additionally, AirDrop transfers can be completed over the internet, eliminating the need for close proximity. Apple Watch running watchOS 10.1 can now use NameDrop with an iPhone running iOS 17.1.
iOS 17.1 introduces a variety of new featuresAlthough not mentioned in the release notes, Apple states that the update 'addresses' the radiation level issue in France by disabling the signal boosting feature when the iPhone is not held in hand. It also enhances the Screen Time synchronization feature across devices. iOS 17.1 also fixes issues that could cause image display problems and errors that might reset important Location settings when pairing or connecting an Apple Watch for the first time.
On iPad, the iPadOS 17.1 update adds support for the previously announced USB-C Apple Pencil. Here are Apple's release notes for the update:

- Improved reliability of Screen Time settings synchronization across devices
- Fix for an issue that could reset important Location privacy settings when pairing iPhone and Apple Watch for the first time
- Resolution of an issue where the caller's name may not appear during another call
- Fix for a problem where custom ringtones and purchased ringtones may not appear for selection
- Fix for an issue that could result in poor keyboard feedback
- Optimized bug detection (all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models)
