Apple Releases First iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 Public Betas, Update Now!

Apple today launched the initial betas of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 for public beta testers, marking the first software release for users since the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

To date, developers have had access to 3 betas and the first public beta of iOS/iPadOS 17, offering new features akin to developer beta 3.

Currently, those enrolled in Apple's public beta testing program can download updates for iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 by opening the app

‌iOS 17‌ introduces a new StandBy option, allowing it to function as an information hub when placed horizontally while charging. The Standby mode displays time, Live Activities, incoming notifications, and many other widgets.

Additionally, widgets you use on the lock and home screens now support interaction, so you can perform tasks like controlling smart lights or marking Reminders without opening the app.

AirDrop introduces a new NameDrop feature

In iOS 17, AirDrop features a new NameDrop function for quickly sharing contact information with someone nearby. The Phone app also includes Contact Posters that can be customized to let you choose what others see when you call them.
