Apple releases iOS 17.0.3 with a fix for overheating issues on iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max

Apple has released the iOS 17.0.3 update for compatible iPhone models today. Notably, this new software arrives just about a week after the company rolled out iOS 17.0.2 to address some lingering issues.

In addition, Apple has also launched a new version of iPadOS, 17.0.3, for iPad users.

Settings > General > Software Update

iOS 17.0.3 with build number 21A360 resolves the overheating issue for the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ and 15 Pro‌ Max. Following the launch of the new iPhone 15 models, customers began complaining about overheating and even power-off issues in some cases.

Apple acknowledged this overheating issue at the end of September and stated that it would address it through a software update. Some third-party apps have also caused the A17 Pro chip to overload, resulting in thermal issues. Apps affecting performance include Instagram, Uber, and others.

The iOS 17.0.3 and iPadOS 17.0.3 updates also address a kernel vulnerability that could allow hackers to gain elevated privileges. Apple claims to be aware that this security flaw has been exploited in previous iOS versions prior to .6.
