Apple has officially introduced its new augmented reality glasses, Vision Pro, at last week's WWDC 2023 event with a hefty price tag of $3,500.
Vision Pro is expected to hit shelves around early 2024, but Apple is still striving to create a more budget-friendly version of the product.
Apple Vision ProIn his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports that Apple is currently aiming to release a more affordable AR/VR headset by late 2025. Additionally, the 'Fruit Company' is also working on a new version of Vision Pro with a faster processor inside for even better performance.
Gurman speculates that the more affordable version could be named 'Apple Vision' or perhaps 'Apple Vision One'. To achieve a lower price point, Apple plans to cut some hardware components from the new model.
The most expensive components of Vision Pro include the M2 and R1 chips, two 4K micro-LED displays, camera hardware, and sensors. To cut costs, Apple may use lower-quality displays, processors with lower specifications, as well as a range of smaller cameras and sensors. The company may also remove spatial audio speakers from the new augmented reality glasses and instead encourage users to use their own AirPods Pro for audio playback. Let's stay tuned!
