The production of Apple's iMac witnesses a 22.5% decline compared to the same period in Q2/2022. This figure exceeds the overall PC market decline by 15.3%, according to the latest data from IDC research company.
IDC reveals that this is the second consecutive quarter with lower shipments after the explosive growth during the coronavirus pandemic.
Apple's shipments reach 4.8 million units in Q2/2022, placing the company in the fifth position alongside Asus with 4.7 million shipments. In order from first to fourth are: Lenovo, HP, Dell, and Acer.
Global PC Shipment Ranking in Q2/2022Despite predictions of some markets slowing down, IDC states that this decline is worse than expected due to supply chain issues and increasing post-Covid-19 closures in China, along with diverse macroeconomic challenges.
Jitesh Ubrani, IDC's research director, notes: 'Concerns about the recession continue to escalate, weakening demand across segments. Consumer demand for PCs is expected to decrease in the near future, with a potential long-term decline as consumers become more cautious in spending. Users have also become accustomed to using alternative devices such as phones and tablets.'
Despite an overall decline, PC quantities remain comparable to the early stages of the pandemic. The market still exceeds pre-pandemic levels.
