As you may know, Apple recently officially unveiled their first augmented reality glasses at the WWDC 2023 event, named Vision Pro.
Equipped with a series of impressive technologies, it's no surprise that Apple priced the Vision Pro extremely high, reaching 3,500 USD (approximately 82.21 million VND). So, what is the production cost of this product?
According to a leaker named Revegnus, who claims to have obtained the manufacturing materials invoice for Vision Pro, the virtual reality glasses could cost only 1,509 USD for Apple to produce.
As seen in the above post, the most expensive component inside the Apple Vision Pro is the dual-display, manufactured by Sony, with a price tag of 350 USD each. Assembly by manufacturing partner LuxShare costs 130 USD, while adding the Apple M2 chip is 120 USD. The total cost for the augmented reality glasses, including the aluminum frame and fabric strap, also adds up to 120 USD each.

Other components, including internal storage, RAM, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips, screen lenses, external camera,... all come at much lower prices compared to the aforementioned elements. The total production cost of the Apple Vision Pro is estimated to be just over 1,500 USD, which is less than half of Apple's retail price.
However, this information comes from an unverified source, so we might have to wait until reputable sources like iFixit dissect the new device to get more accurate information about the production cost of the Apple Vision Pro.
