In the latest Power On update, Gurman stated that the Apple Watch SE will stick to a two-year upgrade cycle, so the third generation of this product line may be launched in September 2024.
Apple Watch SE 3 will debut in 2024This means the second generation Apple Watch SE remains a safe choice for customers seeking an affordable smartwatch from Apple. The first Apple Watch SE was introduced in September 2020 and received an update last September.
Priced at $249, the Apple Watch SE is the most affordable model, albeit lacking some features found in higher-end Apple Watch models, such as the ECG app, blood oxygen monitoring, Always On display, and wrist temperature tracking. It also has thicker bezels and smaller case size options compared to Series 4 and later models.
According to Gurman, new Apple Watch models set to launch this year will include the Apple Watch Series 9 in two sizes and the second generation Apple Watch Ultra. Gurman also disclosed that Apple experimented with a dark titanium color option for the Apple Watch Ultra last year but decided not to release it.
