Planning a trip to India? Check out this article for a step-by-step guide on applying for a tourist visa online.
Applying for an Indian visa online is a breeze!
Firstly, you need to meet certain requirements to be eligible for an Indian visa.
Good news! Vietnam is one of the countries eligible for online tourist visa applications to India.
Additionally, your trip must be for leisure (sightseeing or tourism) or visiting friends and family. Tourist visas do not permit you to seek employment or participate in volunteer activities in India.
If you're a journalist or planning to attend a conference in this country, you must visit the Indian Embassy in your home country to apply for an Indian visa.
You must possess a passport valid for at least six months from the date of your arrival in India. This passport must have at least two blank pages for Indian immigration officials to stamp.
Additionally, you'll need a return flight ticket or a ticket to another destination (if India is one of your travel stops) and adequate funds for your stay in India.
Furthermore, to be eligible for an online tourist visa, ensure you only possess a regular passport, not diplomatic or official passports. Also, your parents or grandparents should not have been born or lived in Pakistan.
If you're certain you meet the requirements for an online tourist visa, you'll need to prepare some documents in English as follows:
- The first page of your passport (the page with your photo and personal details) in .PDF format with a file size not exceeding 300kb.
– A clear square digital photo capturing your face on a white background. The photo must be a .JPEG file with a size not exceeding 1MB. If unable to crop the image into a square, the website will assist you in cropping it.
– Detailed information about the hotel you will be staying at, including the address and contact phone number.
– Information about the dates of arrival and departure from India.
– The name of the airport you will be landing at.
– Bank account details (credit card, debit card, or PayPal service).
To find affordable flight tickets, you can visit Momondo, Kayak, and Skyscanner websites.

To proceed, you must submit the visa application fee online. Select “Pay Now”, then choose “SBI e-pay”. The website accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro debit cards and Visa and Mastercard credit cards.

The fee for Vietnamese nationals is 50 USD. In addition to the visa fee, you must also pay a bank processing fee, usually 2.5% of the visa fee.
Remember, this fee is mandatory for visa application and is unrelated to whether you pass or fail during the admission process. If unfortunately you do not pass, this amount will not be refunded.
In case of network errors or if you accidentally pay more than twice or three times the required amount, the bank will refund the excess within seven days.
However, be careful because you are only allowed to submit three times (in case of errors), after which you will have to redo the entire visa application process and be issued a new ID code.
After completing the procedure, simply wait for the result notification email. Typically, the approval process takes about 72 hours.

Prior to your trip to India, ensure to print out the confirmation email indicating your visa status (confirmed as “Granted”) and have it with you upon arrival, as immigration officers at the airport will request it.
Online tourist visas for India are valid for up to 60 days. Within a year, you are allowed to apply for a visa twice, with the earliest application possible being 120 days before your trip and the latest being 4 days prior.
To track the progress of your application, you can access the website using the ID number provided to you.
