Essential configurations before drawing in AutoCAD include AutoCAD layers, AutoCAD dimension styles, text styles, and Linetype (drawing line styles in AutoCAD) in DWS files.
Refer to the following article by Taimien[hi.vn to explore important configurations before drawing in AutoCAD.
Crucial Configurations Before AutoCAD Drawing
We cannot assign different DWS files for different components. For example, assigning one DWS file for dimension style and another for Linetype is not possible.
Each setting from each DWS file will be processed. If conflicting information exists in different DWS files, the information from the first file in the list will be used. You can change the order of DWS files to alter priority if needed.
When setting up AutoCAD standards, a batch checker CHX file with the same name as the project file will be created in the project folder. The CHX file contains all project drawings as drawings to be checked and all designated DWS files as the checking drawings. You can run this batch file to check the entire project or manually check each project individually.
Follow the steps below:
Step 1: Click the icon =>Open =>Project.
Step 2: Select the project you want to configure AutoCAD standard settings for, right-click on it, and choose Project Properties.
Step 3: Expand the Advanced section, then click on Project Standards .
Step 4: Click on the AutoCAD Standards tab.
Step 5: To add a new DWS file, click on the icon .
By default, the new DWS file will be added to the end of the list. This implies that the file will be processed last, and the settings from DWS files at the beginning will take precedence.
Step 6: To change the order of DWS files in the list, simply use the up and down buttons.
Step 7: To remove a DWS file from the list, click on the file name and then select the delete icon.
Deleting DWS files will only remove the file references from the project. The files themselves won't be deleted from the file system.
Step 8: If you've configured DWS files as standard AEC drawings in the Styles and Display settings, you can reuse these settings in AutoCAD standards by clicking Add under dws files in the Standard Styles section.
This action will copy the standard AEC files to the AutoCAD Standards tab, allowing you to use standard AutoCAD files in the project.
