Autumn arrives, and the mountainous district of Bình Liêu in Quảng Ninh bursts into a season of white reeds, becoming a favorite among travelers from afar.
Autumn arrives, Bình Liêu's reed season once again stirs endless longing

Bình Liêu district is located in the northeast of Quảng Ninh province, approximately 270km from Hanoi. The road to Bình Liêu is winding but relatively easy to travel as the concrete road is wide and spacious. To fully experience the beauty of Bình Liêu's reed season, it's recommended to stay for 2 days and 1 night. Apart from the reeds, tourists should also check out the important border milestones like 1297, 1326, 1300, and 1305.

Each year, Bình Liêu's reed season usually begins from October to November in the lunar calendar. During late autumn and early winter, the reeds cover the hillsides and valleys in white. To reach the reed hills, you have to travel from Bình Liêu town, through Ngàn Chuồng village (Lục Hồn commune), and then continue for about 20 - 30 minutes until you reach the border patrol road at an altitude of 700m. From the rice fields, the stilt houses, to the western route, it's a completely different space, the space of endless reeds.

The most beautiful continuous stretches of reeds are on the western loop road towards Lạng Sơn. The two most popular scenic spots for tourists are milestones 1287 and 1305. Therefore, everyone tries to conquer these two milestones to capture the panoramic view of the homeland's border immersed in the enchanting white reeds. From the milestones, amidst the sea of reeds, you can also see a natural masterpiece of majestic mountains, winding trails...

The 'Dinosaur Backbone' trail whispered among travelers in Binh Lieu is essentially the border patrol route between Vietnam and China, stretching about 3km with over 2,000 steps. Despite being paved with concrete, its steep incline poses a considerable challenge to visitors. The most enticing aspect of conquering the 'dinosaur backbone' is the opportunity to revel in the pristine beauty of nature along the way. The surrounding mountains adorned with the pure white of tall reeds towering above one's head create a mesmerizing panorama.

Apart from Bình Liêu's reed season, this mountainous district also entices tourists with various other natural attractions such as the Khe Tien waterfall, Song Mooc village, Khe Van waterfall, Hoanh Mo border gate, Luc Na communal house, Na Lang suspension bridge... Alongside its natural beauty, Bình Liêu boasts the cultural charm of its Dao, Man, San Chi, and Tay ethnic communities.

Many festivals and unique forms of art from the local ethnic communities are favored by tourists for exploration, such as the Then singing, Tinh musical instrument of the Tay people, Pa Dung singing of the Dao people, Cọ Wave singing of the San Chi people... Binh Lieu cuisine, with its distinctive dishes from the border region and unique to each ethnic group, offers many unique experiences rarely found elsewhere.
