The most expensive gaming laptop in Vietnam, equipped with Intel Core i9 processor and Geforce RTX 2080 graphics card, weighing 4.7 kg.
1. Asus ROG G703GX - Premium Gaming Laptop at 120 Million VND
Top-tier gaming laptop in Vietnam with Intel Core i9 processor, Geforce RTX 2080 graphics card, and a hefty 4.7 kg weight.
ROG G703GX is a high-end gaming laptop recently introduced by Asus to the Vietnamese market. One of the rare models running the latest Intel Core i9-8950HK chip and top-notch Geforce RTX 2080 graphics card with 8 GB VRAM for gamers. Priced at 120 million VND, G703GX holds the title of the most expensive gaming laptop in Vietnam. Previous models with dual graphics cards like Asus ROG GX800, MSI GT83, or Acer Predator 21X were priced higher but are no longer in production.
The laptop's outer shell is crafted from an alloy with engraved design and 45-degree beveled edges for a distinctive look. The RGB LED-lit ROG logo adds style, customizable through the pre-installed Aura software, similar to the keyboard backlight system.
Featuring a distinct rugged design tailored for gamers, the G703GX is quite hefty with dimensions of 425 x 319 x 47.5 mm and a weight of up to 4.7 kg, doubling that of typical 17-inch screens.
The Republic of Gamers insignia is plasma-etched just below the top lid. Similar material is used for the I/O port area at the rear, creating a standout feature. On either side of the connections are two cooling vents inspired by the design of fighter jet engines, a traditional touch on ROG gaming laptops.
At the rear, you'll find HDMI 2.0a and the new miniDisplay 1.4, ensuring signal transmission with minimal latency to an external display. The machine is powered by an Intel Core i9-8950HK processor, 32 GB dual-channel RAM (upgradeable to 64 GB), and a high-end discrete GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card using GDDR6 VRAM with a capacity of 8 GB.
To unleash the full system performance, the ROG G703GX requires simultaneous connection to two chargers with a combined power of nearly 500W, equivalent to a desktop computer. In normal usage, the machine only needs one charger. The individual charger is also quite hefty, with dimensions one and a half times larger than a typical laptop charger.
ROG G703GX maintains a traditional keyboard layout, unlike the newer Zephyrus series. The machine's touchpad is large and positioned to the left, supporting multi-touch gestures with one, two, and three fingers similar to MacBook models. Equipped with a 17.3-inch display, Full HD resolution, anti-glare coating, and a remarkable 144 Hz refresh rate, the highest available currently, with a 3-millisecond response time, and G-Sync support. According to Asus Vietnam, the brand plans to support gaming laptops with display refresh rates of up to 245 Hz in the near future. The machine's speaker system is placed right beneath the screen to avoid interference with the cooling system below.
The most significant drawback of the G703GX is its non-mechanical keyboard, a feature favored by many gamers. However, the keyboard still stands out with a layout and size equivalent to a desktop, RGB effects applied to each key, customizable through the Aura app. The keyboard has a 2.5mm travel distance and standard 0.3mm keycap curvature. The system includes a dedicated key row for configuration settings, backlight customization, and ROG's proprietary software.
With a thickness of 47.5 mm, the machine is twice as thick as a gaming laptop in the 30 to 40 million VND price range. This bulk is primarily due to the need for a robust cooling system to handle the load when the processor and graphics card operate at high frequencies. On one side, there are two USB 3.0 ports and a card reader slot.
On the opposite side, Asus provides a new USB-C port, alongside the existing USB 3.0 port and two headphone/microphone jacks. The G703GX is the first laptop to offer a triple-channel PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD configuration, forming the Hyper Drive Extreme, boosting continuous read speeds to a maximum of 8700MB/s. The default SSD capacity is 1.5 TB (3 x 512 GB drives), and there's also an empty slot for users to upgrade with an additional HDD.
Asus equips the device with ADC dust-resistant cooling technology, featuring two 12V electric fans similar to desktop computers, and a thin-blade cooling system with a thickness of 0.1 mm. In silent mode, the machine operates almost noiselessly, but in the most powerful performance mode, the fans are quite loud and expel a considerable amount of hot air.
Weighing nearly 5 kg, the ROG G703GX is not an everyday carry due to its substantial weight, not to mention the charger, which is not light either. Users may need to bring the charger along for maximum performance. The retail price for this product is 120 million VND, nearly four times the cost of an average gaming laptop.
