Design Quality, Layout, and Build
The ASUS ROG Keris boasts a sleek and curved design, reminiscent of Microsoft's Intellimouse. It's a gaming mouse with a standard appearance, free from any excess or clutter. Weighing in at approximately 79 grams, it's as light as a feather.
There are 8 buttons on the mouse, with 5 of them fully customizable – excluding DPI, connectivity, and the primary left button. This isn't an issue since the mouse isn't ambidextrous, and ASUS believes the non-customizable primary button can act as a safety net. The primary buttons on both left and right sides have a remarkably low travel distance (ROG Zero Gap) and are highly flexible. On the other hand, the left-side navigation buttons have a slight forward movement (Kaihl switch). The scroll wheel, on the contrary, requires more force to actuate compared to the other buttons.
The grip area has two different textures – standard and matte plastic. Both edges are curved inward from the grip area, gradually curving outward towards the tail end.
ASUS has now altered their usual formula for the primary buttons with this new model. For example, PBT is now the chosen material to enhance grip and resist shine. The somewhat inconvenient scroll wheel from the Strix Impact II has also undergone refurbishment for the Keris – with additional guidance for each button to maintain platform stability.
Physical Layout, Functionality, and Ergonomics
The ROG Keris has a length of approximately 118mm and a grip width of about 55mm, looking sleek even when it measures 62mm on the panel. The highest point of the shell is 39mm with a slight backward tilt and a noticeable leftward lean.
Weighing in at around ~79 grams, this is one of the lightest wireless gaming mice I've tested. While its shape and size suggest it's a medium-sized mouse, the Keris feels like something on the border between a medium and small-handed person.
Software, Lighting, and Special Features
The ROG Keris Wireless comes with support for ASUS Armoury Crate software. There are 6 sub-menus here, starting with the Button menu. This allows you to create macros, swap buttons, link keyboard buttons, window functions, and add shortcuts for applications. This software is essential to maximize the potential of the mouse.
Final Thoughts
The ASUS ROG Keris Wireless is an outstanding gaming mouse – both wireless and wired. It delivers everything I anticipated since ASUS announced it – along with its remarkable features. It's comfortable, easy to maintain, and offers performance that aligns with its price. Priced at 1,990,000 VND, this is a gaming mouse well worth your experience.
