When it comes to ASUS Zenbook series, we often think of sleek, lightweight ultrabook laptops with a luxurious appearance for comfortable use anywhere. Despite being late to the game, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED not only inherits the essence of its predecessors but also reaches new heights.

Specifically, this laptop has dimensions of approximately 296.2 x 216.3 x 11.8 mm and weighs about 1 kg, making it very compact and lightweight for comfortable single-handed use for extended periods. With these specifications, ASUS confidently asserts that ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is the thinnest and lightest ultrabook laptop currently available.

Although ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED weighs approximately 1 kg, the internal components are tightly arranged by ASUS, allowing for a solid feel when held. This is achieved because the device's casing is crafted from sturdy metal. Nevertheless, I suggest everyone to store the device securely using a shockproof sleeve or the accompanying carrying case when purchasing ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED.

The A-side of ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is crafted from textured Magnesium-Aluminum alloy, exuding elegance and uniqueness compared to many other laptops on the market. Thanks to its textured finish, the device can effectively resist sweat and fingerprints, maintaining a fresh look even after extended use. Additionally, the A-side features the familiar Zenbook logo to enhance brand recognition.

When opening ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, the keyboard area is slightly raised thanks to the ErgoLift hinge mechanism. This elevation provides a more comfortable typing and entertainment experience. At the top edge of the device, you can see elongated heat vents due to its slim profile. However, prolonged use may result in heat dissipation underneath, causing the bottom edge of the screen to become quite warm, which raises some concerns about durability.

For better thermal dissipation, I've utilized an additional laptop stand to enhance ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED's cooling efficiency. If you haven't found a suitable stand yet, you can make use of the cardboard stand included in the box when purchasing ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED. This stand securely elevates the device to a suitable angle for temporary use while you search for a better stand.

A point that many of you may be concerned about is whether ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, with its slim and compact body, is restricted in terms of connectivity ports. Unfortunately, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is slightly limited compared to many of its counterparts. On the right side of the device, there is only 1 USB-A port and 1 3.5mm headphone/speaker jack.

On the left side, there are 2 USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4 standard) and 1 HDMI port. Although the number of ports is not extensive, it still ensures you can comfortably connect to various peripheral devices. If you find it insufficient, you can consider getting a HUB to expand the connectivity ports.

Inside, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is equipped with a familiar tenkeyless keyboard system found in Ultrabook models. Additionally, the keyboard features backlighting, enabling users to conveniently type in low-light environments. Typing on ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED feels just right for me, with a good key travel distance and sufficient bounce to minimize typing errors.

The trackpad of ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is generously sized and impeccably crafted. As a result, I experience smooth cursor movement and responsive clicks.

ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED boasts a 2.8K display for a stunning visual experience

In terms of display quality, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED sports a 13.3-inch screen with a 2.8K resolution (2,880 x 1,800 pixels), utilizing OLED technology to deliver sharp, vibrant, and true-to-life images. Additionally, this laptop's screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing a wide and comfortable viewing angle for work.

Moreover, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED has a high screen brightness of up to 550 nits when HDR is enabled, allowing me to work comfortably in various lighting conditions. Additionally, the laptop achieves 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, displaying 1.07 billion colors for accurate and vivid colors, ideal for graphic-related tasks.

Furthermore, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED's screen incorporates various display technologies such as DisplayHDR True Black 500, 0.2 ms response time, Eye Care screen protection, and Low Blue Light. These technologies ensure that users can work or entertain themselves comfortably on ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED for extended periods.

If you pay close attention, you'll notice many sensors along the top bezel of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED screen, accompanied by the camera. These sensors not only enable Windows Hello usage but also enhance video calls with friends and colleagues. All of this is clearly demonstrated in the MyASUS app with features like Motion Tracking, which keeps you in the frame based on your movements, and Background Blurring, which blurs the background for privacy purposes.

Through the MyASUS software, you can also adjust the image quality and colors of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED to tailor your usage experience to your liking.

Before diving into details, let's take a look at the specifications of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED for your convenience!

As seen above, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is equipped with the Intel Core i7-1355U chip from Intel. This is a common chip across many ultrabook laptop models in the current market. After a period of use, the device can effectively meet all my needs for graphics, entertainment, office work, etc.

In addition, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is integrated with 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM so I can open many applications at once without worrying about lag. Moreover, the device is equipped with Intel Iris Xe Graphics to help me use the machine more comfortably for graphics-related tasks.

To provide a clearer view of the performance of ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, I conducted performance evaluations using familiar software such as GeekBench 6, CineBench R23, 3DMark, and PCMark. At the same time, I also adjusted the performance to the highest level in MyASUS.

Here are the specific results:

- GeekBench 6:

• Single-Core/Multi-Core: 2,475 points/9,008 points.
• GPU Compute: 15,160 points.

- Cinebench R23 (Single-Core/Multi-Core): 6,707 points/1,572 points.

- 3DMark: 1,525 points.

- PCMark 10: 5,637 points.

Overall, the scores achieved by ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED are high, suitable for the Intel Core i7-1355U chip. When compared broadly, the device even competes favorably with some Ultrabooks in slightly higher price ranges. Moreover, during real-world usage for basic work and entertainment tasks, ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED delivers fast processing speed and responsiveness. Its multitasking capability is smooth, performing well even when handling numerous tabs and windows during a work session.

In addition to benchmarking performance, I also tested two games, FIFA Online 4 and League of Legends, on the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED. Using MSI Afterburner software, I monitored FPS, CPU temperature, RAM usage, and more to provide the most comprehensive insights.

• FIFA Online 4

For FIFA Online 4, I set the in-game graphics to Low. After experimenting with various settings, Low graphics provided a balanced experience on the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, offering stability and decent image quality. At this setting, the game maintained a stable FPS of 45 - 60, occasionally experiencing minor stuttering.

• League of Legends

As for League of Legends, I confidently pushed the in-game graphics settings to the highest level as it's not a very demanding game in terms of system requirements. Therefore, my gaming experience on the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED was smooth, with FPS consistently maintained at 125, and lagging occurrences were rare.

Summing up the gaming experience on the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, I affirm that this laptop can provide good entertainment with popular eSports games today. However, if you demand heavier graphics-intensive games, this laptop may not meet your expectations as it is an Ultrabook designed primarily for work.

Furthermore, I tested the speed of the SSD drive on the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED using Crystal Diskmark software, and the results I obtained were very impressive, which in my opinion, stands out more than many devices in the same range.

For a clearer perspective on the battery life of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, I utilized BatteryMon software for measurement. Here are the specific conditions and results:

- Scenario 1: Engaging in everyday tasks without gaming:

• Battery life: 5 hours and 03 minutes.
• Measurement duration: 1 hour.
• Screen at 100%, volume at 70%, and power-saving mode off.
• External mouse, keyboard, and headphones connected.

- Scenario 2: Engaging in everyday tasks with 20 minutes of gaming:

• Battery life: 3 hours and 00 minutes.
• Measurement duration: 1 hour.
• Screen at 100%, volume at 70%, and power-saving mode off.
• External mouse, keyboard, and headphones connected.

The device's usage time measured without gaming closely matches real-world usage. It demonstrates the excellent power-saving capabilities of the Intel Core i7-1355U chip on the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, providing a long-lasting office laptop experience without needing frequent charging.

Notably, the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is the only laptop that allows me to comfortably carry the charger with me. This accessory is compact in size, comparable to the Ugreen 65W or Baseus 65W phone chargers.

One point to note is the temperature of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED during normal usage, which remains slightly warm around the keyboard area. To provide clarity, I also utilized HWiNFO64 software to assess the thermal performance of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, and the results are as follows:

It can be observed that the average temperature at which the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED typically operates ranges from 67°C to 77°C, and during gaming, it can reach up to 91°C. During heavy tasks such as gaming or multitasking extensively, as mentioned earlier, the device only warms slightly in the keyboard area, as this is also the location of the cooling system. However, since the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is a slim ultrabook, it's understandable that it may experience higher temperatures, so it's advisable to use a cooling pad for better thermal management.
