Axie Infinity introduces new free-to-play mode, welcoming new players with open arms.

Axie Infinity: Origin set to debut in March.

On February 12th, Axie Infinity unveiled details about Axie Infinity: Origin, the V3 version of the game. Alongside various gameplay changes, one particularly enticing detail is that Axie Infinity: Origin will feature a 'free-to-play' mode for newcomers.

One major hurdle for new players wanting to join Axie Infinity has been the initial investment required to purchase Axie NFTs and form a team of 3 creatures to engage in battles. With the game's skyrocketing popularity in 2021, the value of these NFTs has also surged, inadvertently limiting the community's expansion and forcing players to seek sponsorships from guilds.

Recognizing this issue, Axie Infinity: Origin will provide players with free 'starter' Axies. Players will receive additional starter Axies when participating in PvE mode and can use them for PvP.

However, these Axies are not NFTs, cannot be bought or sold, and will not earn SLP rewards when used. Players are still required to purchase NFT Axies on the Marketplace or breed NFT Axies and use them in battles to earn in-game token rewards.

Alpha version of Axie Infinity: Origin is set to launch in March 2022. This implies that Season 20 of V2 will transition to Season 0 of V3, or they will run concurrently.

Since this is an alpha test aimed at gathering player feedback, Axie will not reward during this stage.
