At its most basic definition, Column-Level Security (CLS) enables administrators to restrict the columns of the database that employees can view. For instance, individuals handling SSN or other users' personal information can now only access these types of data. It also means simplifying security access without the need to redesign the entire database or add specific column filters.
Azure SQL Data Warehouse Implements Column-Level Security (CLS)
Administrators can manage user permissions by utilizing the GRANT T-SQL command, then creating individual access security policies for each column.
