On the night of April 23rd, a multitude of people in Bac Lieu City flooded the streets to witness the artistic illumination along Tran Phu, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Hung Vuong Square, Trang An Bridge, welcoming the first National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival - Bac Lieu 2014.







In the afternoon of April 23rd, the Organizing Committee of the 1st National Don Ca Tai Tu (Traditional Music) Festival in Bac Lieu 2014 conducted a preliminary review of the preparations for the festival. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 8:00 PM on April 25th at Hung Vuong Square, and the closing ceremony will take place at 8:00 PM on April 29th at Eco-tourism Area Ho Nam, Bac Lieu City.
With the theme 'Don Ca Tai Tu - love of people, love of Southern land,' the festival will feature 21 main activities, including 14 activities aimed at honoring artists and artisans who have contributed to the preservation and promotion of Don Ca Tai Tu art.
Notably, there will be exchange activities among artists and players of Don Ca Tai Tu from 21 provinces and cities in the Southern region; an exhibition of traditional ethnic musical instruments; the inauguration of the memorial area for Southern Don Ca Tai Tu art and musician Cao Van Lau; a meeting of entrepreneurs, artists, and musicians, and the introduction of the Fund for the Preservation and Development of Southern Don Ca Tai Tu Art in Bac Lieu Province; a scientific seminar on the Conservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Southern Don Ca Tai Tu...
“At this point, all the basic organizing tasks have been completed. This will be a great opportunity for artists and enthusiasts of Don Ca Tai Tu from everywhere to meet, exchange experiences, and contribute to the preservation and promotion of the values of this distinctive cultural activity of the people of the Southern region” – Ms. Le Thi Ai Nam, Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, head of the organizing committee of the Don Ca Tai Tu festival, stated.
