You often save passwords on frequently used sites in Firefox. For whatever reason, you may need to completely uninstall this browser or reinstall Windows. This process will erase all data related to Firefox, including your saved passwords. You can back up passwords on Firefox for future recovery through the following simple steps:
Step 1: Download the Password Exporter Add-on.
Visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/password-exporter/.
Select Add to Firefox, wait for Firefox to download the data:
Then the Software Installation dialog box will appear. Choose Install Now.
There will be a prompt to Restart Now which you can choose, or manually close Firefox and restart it.
Step 2: After installing the Password Exporter extension, you can back up passwords.
- Choose the Open menu icon in Firefox and select Options.
- In the Options window, select Security and then select Import/Export Passwords.
- The Import/Export Passwords window will appear, select Export Passwords.
Enter a name, choose the location to save the backup file, and click Save.
A success notification appears, select OK to complete the password backup process.
Step 3: Restore passwords on Firefox.
You also select Import/Export Passwords in the Security section of Options as when backing up passwords. In the Import/Export Passwords window, select Import Passwords.
Select the backup file, then click Open.
Wait for the browser to process Import Passwords.
The process is complete, indicating that you have successfully restored your passwords.
Storing passwords on Firefox will become easier, allowing you to back up passwords to avoid forgetting login credentials. Wishing you success!
