Multiroom Support and Voice Control
Beosound Emerge can be controlled via the touch-sensitive strip on the top of the speaker, supporting basic control operations such as play/pause, skip tracks, volume adjustment, select presets (sound profiles), Bluetooth pairing, and voice control activation.
Similar to Beosound Level, Beosound Emerge supports Google Assistant for seamless multiroom and smart home setup. Additionally, it comes integrated with Spotify Connect, or users can stream music via ChromeCast, AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth from mobile devices. Setting up Google Assistant is straightforward, requiring customers to simply connect the speaker to the network and choose the corresponding room location to start enjoying music.Inside Beosound Emerge, the hardware comprises a 4-inch woofer, 1.45-inch midrange, and 0.6-inch tweeter with separate Class-D amplifiers, delivering a total power of 60W + 30W + 30W (woofer + midrange + tweeter).Customization Capability
Like Beosound Level, Beosound Emerge features ARC (Active Room Compensation) technology, allowing the use of a microphone to automatically adjust the sound according to the room's space. By installing the Bang & Olufsen app, users can create and save personal profiles or utilize available profiles such as Lounge, Party, Speech, Night, and Optimal. They can also easily adjust the sound range from the lowest (almost completely turning off treble) to the highest (almost completely turning off bass) based on individual preferences.Clear, crisp sound, not heavy on bass but detailed. Placing it in a corner enhances the listening experience.
Beosound Emerge delivers sound quality quite admirably, offering detailed mids and sufficiently strong bass. Its major strengths lie in its clear and detailed mid and treble ranges, covering a wide spectrum from low to high frequencies. However, at high volumes, instruments like pianos and violins may lose some depth, but this is typically noticeable in EDM tracks. While the upper bass is detailed and resonant, those seeking a booming bass might find it lacking, particularly in the lower bass range, which can sound somewhat hollow with a quick decay around 50Hz. Emerge shines best when playing light, folk, vocal, and acoustic music. With its expansive and clear soundstage, it's particularly suited for genres like SEE SING SHARE and live performances like Nils Lofgren Live. Overall, with its 360-degree sound and exceptional design, the price tag of around $25k leaves little room for debate.
To enhance bass and treble, download the Bang Olufsen app, allowing users to adjust EQ settings and calibrate sound according to the room (Active Room Compensation). Simply adjust until it suits your ears; personally, I find Active Room Compensation quite effective. In my 26m2 room, enabling this feature results in a more pronounced sound with slightly boosted bass. Another way to increase bass is by placing the speaker in a corner or against a wall, enhancing sub-bass clarity and overall volume.Overall Assessment
Beosound Emerge impresses with its compact and slim design, allowing placement anywhere in the room while maintaining elegance. Personally, I'm highly satisfied with this device; just opening it up and hearing the sound is enough to fall in love, not to mention its sleek appearance... You know, beauty can overwhelm even the most self-respecting romantic. I'll take all criticisms for this one.
