Bangkok, Thailand, stands as the premier destination for international travelers worldwide, according to the Global Destination Cities Index.
Among the 12 cities experiencing the fastest growth in air travel tourism, 11 are located in the East and South, with Istanbul, showcasing Asia's prosperity.
By the year 2013, it is projected that Bangkok will host a total of 15.98 million tourists, London 15.96 million, Paris 13.92 million... Although Bangkok welcomes the most tourists, among 132 surveyed cities, New York tourists spend the most money.
Meanwhile, Tokyo remains the most expensive city globally, as the average expenditure per visitor here is the highest, nearing 2,200 USD per person.
