Where is Bao Dai Palace 1?
Bao Dai Palace 1 is located at 1 Tran Quang Dieu Street, Ward 10, 4km from the center of Da Lat. The palace, situated at an altitude of 1,550m, is surrounded by enchanting pine forests, creating an impressive space. History of the Formation of Bao Dai Palace 1 Da Lat
Palace 1 has undergone various transformations in both architecture and historical purposes. Built in 1940 by French millionaire Robert Clément Bourgery, it sits amidst lush green pine forests, covering an area of 60 hectares.
In 1949, King Bao Dai's father-in-law purchased the mansion and renovated it. From then until 1954, King Bao Dai moved his residence and turned the mansion into his workplace. Therefore, Palace 1 is also known as the King Palace.
During the era of President Ngo Dinh Diem, Palace 1 was expanded with tunnels and working rooms for aides and officers. After Ngo Dinh Diem's death, Palace 1 became a resort for former heads of state under the Saigon regime until 1975.
In 2014, the local government renovated and restored Palace 1 to its original colors during King Bao Dai's reign, transforming it into a popular tourist and resort destination.

History of the Formation of Bao Dai Palace 2 Da Lat
Palace 2 was built in 1933 by a French architect and became the workplace of the Governor-General of French Indochina, Jean Decoux. Hence, it is also known as the Governor-General's Palace or Decoux Palace.
During the time of Ngo Dinh Diem, Palace 2 became the holiday retreat of the Diem family and his younger brother. By 1946, it became the presidential palace of General Nguyen Khanh, the government of the Republic of Vietnam. In April 1946, the palace hosted the preparatory conference for the Dalat Conference between the Vietnamese and French delegations.
