Before switching to Belkin's MagSafe wireless charger, I tried this Baseus magnetic iPhone car holder as a temporary solution. At first glance, it seemed well-finished, but after some time, it ended up scratching both my car's air vent and the back of my iPhone case, so I'm sharing my experience to help others avoid the same.
It features a solid metal construction with a square, angular design. The matte black finish blends seamlessly with dark car interiors.
The ballpoint tip facilitates adjusting the magnetic suction pad for the best phone viewing angle.
The magnetic pad is encased in a glossy glass layer, which is beautiful and easy to clean. However, notice the significantly raised metal outer layer, with only a thin rubber layer in between.
This design type causes the phone's back to easily scrape against the metal rim every time it's placed for charging. If you use a case, it will eventually leave marks on it. Without a case, you'll frequently experience discomfort from the metal rim pressing against the glass back, which can be quite annoying.
The sharp metal column support, combined with the weight of the phone, will eventually cause severe scratches on the plastic vent cover.
As for my plastic vent cover, it not only got scratched but also cracked. When I contacted the manufacturer, they quoted a hefty price for replacement, which was quite disheartening.
Despite its deadly flaws, it's incredibly convenient to use. Attaching and detaching the iPhone is a breeze.

If you're looking to purchase a magnetic mount, opt for those with this design style; they'll be safer for both your phone and your car's air vents.
