According to archaeologists, the name Bau Tro was formed from the language of the locals. 'Bau' in the Central dialect means a lake, while 'Tro' is an ancient indigenous word. Besides, the lake is also called the 'bottomless lake' because, to this day, specific data on the depth of the lake has not been determined. It is said that the ancients made efforts to measure but still could not determine the bottom of the lake.
