Does your baby frequently 'throw punches'? The difference in the frequency of fetal movements is a commonly observed sign throughout pregnancy. Some babies are calm and gentle, while others are super active, kicking around all day long.
1/ Timing
Starting from the 8th week, your baby can already tumble in the womb. However, during the first 3 months of pregnancy, you can hardly feel your baby's movements. By the middle of the 3rd month, these movements are still quite gentle. Towards the last 3 months, your baby truly starts to 'act up' in the womb. The movements of your baby are now incredibly strong.

To check if your baby is active, choose a time when you are truly relaxed. For example, in the evening while resting on the bed or while relaxing in the bathtub. When you are relaxed or in a quiet space, you will easily feel the movements of the fetus.

2/ Risks
Many mothers even schedule and record their baby's movements to mark and predict future activities. However, this is also why mothers often worry about changes in the frequency and timing of fetal movements.
With the belief that the more the baby moves, the healthier they are, many mothers feel extremely anxious if they don't see the baby moving much during the day. In fact, in some cases, sudden excessive fetal movements may be due to breathing difficulties or lack of oxygen due to the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby's neck... This situation is very dangerous, if not addressed promptly, it can lead to stillbirth.

If concerned about the frequency of your baby's movements, mothers can visit a doctor for advice. There is no standard for the frequency of movements to assess the health of babies. Only experts with thorough tests can provide accurate answers.
