Badaling, just outside Beijing, is a prime spot with historic wall walks overlooking vibrant autumn forests, and a wildlife park with diverse species.

Miyalou's nearly 4,000km² landscape turns a vivid red and gold in autumn, beneath which clear streams babble. Visitors can also partake in local ethnic minority festivals.

Autumn blankets birch forests in a dreamy yellow from Altai Mountains to Kanas Lake, with distant snow-capped mountains bordering Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia.

Wulingyuan in Hunan boasts towering stone pillars reaching skyward, enveloped in autumn mist and sporadic golden forests, reminiscent of giant candles.

The famed Longji Terraces, elevating from 300 to 1110m, are a sight to behold in all seasons, with autumn bringing enchanting views of small houses and hardworking local women in the rice fields of Guilin.

Qixiashan Mountain in Jiangsu, among China's top four for autumn maple viewing, paints the sky in shades of red and gold. Accessible by train from Shanghai to Nanjing, then a bus ride from the center to Qixiashan.
