Referred to as the Tà Năng (Lam Dong) - Phan Dũng (Binh Thuan) route, this trail is renowned among trailblazers. According to local guides, it was originally opened by loggers to transport timber from the forests. Many adventurers who've explored this route regard it as Vietnam's most stunning trekking path.
Beyond Limits on the Tà Năng Path
Determining the exact start of trekking activities on this route is challenging. According to our guides, it gained popularity around August 2015. After a group of adventurers shared their experiences and photos online, the trail quickly became lively. Nowadays, almost every weekend sees several groups wandering along it. Even Đà Loan town (the gathering point before entering the forest) was desolate back in November last year, but now it boasts a bustling market catering to the basic needs of visitors, from food to forest knives…

Our group embarked on the journey during mild, occasionally drizzly weather – ideal for hiking but challenging for amateur photographers. We traversed steep, rugged trails, climbed hills, passed through pine and mixed forests, crossed small and large streams, scaled vertical 90º slopes to reach Yavly waterfall, and trekked back from Yavly in the rain, eventually finding shelter at Mr. Lê's house (a Raglai family)…
In reality, the trail is unfriendly to hikers. It's deeply eroded, with sections deeper than half a meter; even specialized vehicles struggle. Pedestrians can only follow these deep ruts, slopes, and mud, with a slight misstep potentially leading to falls or slips down the slopes. According to our guides, trekking during the dry season reduces the mud, but sacrifices the lush scenery, as the grass turns yellow, and the trees lose their vibrant green.
