The divorce petition of Bill Gates and Melinda French has been formally approved by the King County Supreme Court, just three months after both declared their 'separate ways' plans. Both chose not to change their names post-divorce and also did not publicly disclose the details of their asset division through a divorce contract, as well as responsibilities for their children and other matters.

This 27-year-long marriage is said to conclude because Melinda felt uncomfortable with her husband's association with billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of child sexual abuse. The actual reason, however, remains undisclosed by the couple. Despite the divorce, both declare they will continue working together and maintain the Bill&Melinda Gates philanthropic foundation. However, this charitable foundation may still be dissolved in the future, as Melinda mentioned she might resign from her co-chair position within the next 2 years if she feels 'unable to continue collaboration' with Bill Gates.

Currently, there is considerable interest in how the wealth of both will be divided. Bill Gates ranks as the world's fourth wealthiest individual, boasting a net worth of $152 billion USD. Since the announcement of the Gates' divorce, various information and records suggest that Bill's company, Cascade Investment, has transferred shares of AutoNation and Deere to Melinda.
