The BMW i4 is equipped with a battery pack boasting nearly 84kWh capacity, surpassing that of the iX. Compared to the i3 battery, this new pack offers over 40% higher energy density, meaning it provides more power and longer range despite being the same size. When fast-charging with DC, the manufacturer claims it will take 31 minutes to charge from 10 to 80% for the vehicle. The maximum driving range for the standard version is close to 500 miles.
In terms of design, the i4 clearly embodies its identity as an electric sedan, targeting a youthful, sporty demographic. The car features a sharply sloping rear roofline, reminiscent of the 4-series Gran Coupe, with 4 doors and seating for 4. Inside, the vehicle retains two large screens for information and entertainment, consisting of a curved display panel made from a single piece of glass, with the information screen measuring 12.3 inches and the central entertainment screen measuring 14.9 inches. Naturally, the car utilizes the latest iDrive 8 system, supporting autonomous driving at levels 2 and 3. In the US market, the standard i4 is priced at $56,395, while the high-performance M50 variant starts at $66,895.The i4 is developed by BMW on the platform of the 8th generation electric vehicles, which is the same platform as the iX. After a period of stagnation following the launches of the i3 and i8, BMW is now more serious about electric vehicle development. The German automaker is currently also working on electric versions of the 5-Series and 7-Series, set to be released in the future.
