BOE introduces the world's highest refresh rate monitor (Photo: PCMag)BOE recently unveiled the world's first 600 Hz laptop display. Current laptops have yet to reach such a high refresh rate. Notably, Nvidia RTX 4000 GPUs do not yet support 600 Hz displays.
This could be an OEM race to push the boundaries of display refresh rates. Currently, laptops like Alienware XT7 R2 only have a 480 Hz refresh rate. Increasing display refresh rates will greatly benefit the gaming industry, especially AAA titles.
This 600 Hz display boasts a 1.66 ms response time with a 16:10 aspect ratio. BOE may use either TN or IPS panels with Full HD or Full HD+ resolution, exact specifications are yet to be disclosed.
This is the highest refresh rate laptop to date (Photo: VideoCardz)Users may have to wait longer for this high refresh rate display to appear in a real-world product. Last year, BOE announced a 27-inch display with a 500 Hz refresh rate, but the device has yet to hit the market.
The company also stated that the 500 Hz refresh rate technology can be achieved through an 8-lane eDP connection. Industry experts have said that a 600 Hz refresh rate display would likely require a DisplayPort 2.0 standard connection.
