Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a tool designed to assist you in downloading files at high speed. While IDM is widely used, many users tend to stick to its default settings.

IDM's default settings are not optimized for the fastest download speeds. You can configure IDM to achieve maximum download speed.

Enhance Download Speeds with the Latest IDM Version
Step 1: Open the Internet Download Manager interface.
Method 1: Click on the Start Menu, type Internet Download Manager in the Search programs and files box, and select

Method 2: Double-click on the Internet Download Manager icon in the system tray of your computer (if you have IDM set to launch with Windows).

Step 2: Choose Options on the IDM interface.

Step 3: In the Internet Download Manager Configuration window, select the Connection tab.

Step 4: Here, select High Speed: Direct connection (Ethernet/Cable)/Wifi/Mobile 4G/other under the Connection Type/Speed section.
Under Default max. conn. number, select 16 (default is 8). Then, click OK to save the settings.

Improve Download Speeds with Older IDM Versions
For older versions of IDM, follow the same steps to open the Connection tab in the Internet Download Manager Configuration window.
In the Connection tab, configure as follows:
- Under Connection Type/Speed, select LAN 10Mbs.
- Under Default.max. conn. number, select 16.
Then, press OK to save the settings.
