With this latest update, travelers with a Taiwan visa issued within the last 10 years can apply for a visa exemption online through the Taiwan Immigration Bureau.
Breaking News: Effective June 1st, a new visa exemption for Taiwan tourism is in place for individuals with a prior Taiwan visa.
From June 1, 2017, individuals with a Taiwan visa (excluding work visas) issued within the last 10 years can apply for a visa exemption online through the Taiwan Immigration Bureau.
Previously, since September 1, 2016, citizens from 5 countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, India, and the Philippines, with visas still valid or expired within 10 years from the US, Canada, Japan, UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, are eligible for visa-free entry to Taiwan for 30 days.

Travelers meeting the specified criteria mentioned earlier but have not visited Taiwan before need to visit the Taiwan Immigration Bureau's website to provide additional personal information. The website system will respond with the outcome, enabling travelers to enter Taiwan.

In case travelers do not receive a notification or receive an unsuccessful result, visa exemption will not be granted. To enter Taiwan, standard visa procedures must be followed.
Notably, citizens of 5 countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, India, and the Philippines, are also exempt from submitting financial and employment documents if they register for tours with designated travel companies or business group tours.
