Situated alongside the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hạ Long Bay, Bài Thơ Mountain stands as a testament to the pride of Quảng Ninh locals. It is adorned with numerous poems, including those composed by King Lê Thánh Tông.
Breathtaking Bài Thơ Mountain – the Pride of Quảng Ninh Residents
At an elevation of 200 meters, the view from the summit of Bài Thơ Mountain overlooking Hạ Long Bay is truly majestic, especially during sunset. According to historical records, in ancient times, the mountain served as a lookout point for the Northeastern region. In 1468, during a visit to the area, King Lê Thánh Tông inscribed his poem 'Through countless ages, the Southern sky, steadfast mountains and rivers' onto the mountain's cliffs. Subsequently, several other poems have also been discovered here.

Though not towering in height, the path up the mountain is far from simple, as it includes steep sections. Many parts feature one side with rugged rocks and the other with steep cliffs. Locals still raise numerous herds of goats on the mountain.

Currently, there are still troops of golden-haired monkeys residing on the mountain, akin to the monkey troops used for medical research on Rều Island, in Cẩm Phả City. Occasionally, these monkeys venture into the kitchens of houses at the mountain's base to scavenge for food.

To this day, historical relics still dot the path leading to the summit of Bài Thơ Mountain. It served as the main telecommunications center of Quảng Ninh during the anti-American resistance, having been relocated to the mountain to avoid bombings.

At the mountain's peak, the sacred red flag with a golden star proudly flutters. It was here, in the early morning of May 1, 1930, that Đào Văn Tuất, a railway worker from Ba Đèo Station, secretly climbed to hoist the Party's flag in celebration of International Workers' Day.

In 1992, the Bài Thơ Mountain complex was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Monument, comprising three sites: 'Inscriptions on the mountain, Long Tiên Pagoda, and Đức Ông Temple'. Today, the mountain's historical sites include the flagpole and the red hammer and sickle flag, the observation post, and the 12.7mm anti-aircraft emplacement of the Bạch Đằng Self-Defense Unit during the anti-American resistance, postal cave, air defense command center and operating room, Quảng Ninh provincial hospital.

Thus, Bài Thơ Mountain stands as a heritage steeped in history, a folklore treasure in the land surrounding Hạ Long Bay. Bài Thơ Mountain is the 'divine eye' of the Northeast. From ancient dynasties to the era of Hồ Chí Minh, its military victories resounded.

Bài Thơ Mountain also serves as a cultural nexus connecting successive generations of Vietnamese, fostering sustainable development that deserves to be honored and the conservation value, the value of national culture and the development of tourism in Hạ Long City and Quảng Ninh province.

Therefore, when visiting Quảng Ninh Province, when exploring Hạ Long Bay, be sure to visit Bài Thơ Mountain, the pride of generations of people in the Hạ Long region in particular and Quảng Ninh province in general.
