In just 4 months since its initial feature in the news, Tam Thanh Mural Village has welcomed thousands of visitors from across the country.
Breathtaking Beauty of Tam Thanh Mural Village in the Rain

On June 28, Quang Nam People's Committee, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam and several non-governmental organizations, inaugurated the Korean-Vietnamese community art exchange project in Tam Thanh commune (Tam Ky City). The project was completed after more than 20 days of initiation, carried out by dozens of Korean volunteers.

From a humble fishing village like many others along the coast of Quang Nam, Tam Thanh Mural Village quickly rose to prominence last summer thanks to its captivating murals.
The murals grace moss-covered, crooked walls, sometimes adorning abandoned houses, other times embellishing bathhouses, and occasionally just fences. Above them, the sea stretches endlessly, capturing the essence of the villagers with their radiant, gentle smiles.
Village residents, when tasked with painting murals on their aging homes, merely thought of it as giving their houses a fresh coat of paint. Yet, over three summer months, they welcomed hundreds of visitors. The fishing hamlet buzzed with activity, with homes opening their doors, setting up tables for guests, offering hat rentals, serving refreshing coffee, and even providing accommodation. Few came for a beach swim, despite Tam Thanh Beach's cleanliness and inviting sands; they came for the mural paintings, leaving with cherished photographs.

The day I arrived, Bich Hoa Village was devoid of sunlight, devoid of tourists. Rain drizzled down on the murals. I carried my wandering child through the alleys, capturing moments when he stopped to play. Rain or shine, amidst the sea breeze, the murals remained vibrant, only missing the presence of visitors, bringing back the tranquility to the fishing village.
Most visitors arrive during the day, coming from Hoi An approximately 40km away. They wander around for a while, have lunch, and then depart. Thousands of murals are captured, shared in newspapers, and on personal Facebook accounts, furthering Bich Hoa Village's fame. A few linger on, staying overnight in local homes, extending their exploration for another day.
With alternating sunshine and rain, the weather remains gloomy and overcast. Bich Hoa Village returns to its daily rhythm. Occasionally, someone passes by. Hopefully, the mural paintings will bring new vitality to the villagers' lives, and tourism will not disrupt the village's inherent beauty.
