As in the article guiding offline browsing on Chrome, this article will continue to provide readers with how to browse offline on Firefox, one of the most popular browsers today.
Offline web browsing essentially involves saving resources of the website including image files, JavaScript, styles, or browser cache memory. If you revisit that website without a network connection, you can continue to browse the web as usual.
Whether online or offline, cache memory proves to be very useful. It helps browsers navigate the web faster by accessing copies of web pages that users have previously visited. Just like Coc Coc, Chrome, or Firefox also support offline web browsing in a mode called Offline Mode.
How to Browse Offline on Firefox
There are two ways to browse offline in Firefox.
Method 1: Enable directly from the menu bar
The first method involves using the menu bar that is hidden in Firefox. To temporarily enable the menu bar, simply press Alt on the keyboard.
Additionally, if you want to display it permanently, right-click anywhere on the empty space on the tab bar of Firefox and select Menu Bar from the popup menu.
From the menu bar, choose File -> Work Offline to activate offline web browsing mode.
Method 2: Enable through the Developer menu
Step 1: Press the “three-dot icon” and select the Developer tab.
Step 2: In the Developer toolbar -> select Work Offline at the bottom.
Note: The Work Offline option is available in both the menu bar and Developer menu. Enabling the option in either of these yields the same result.
After activating offline mode on Firefox, you can now freely browse offline with previously accessed websites and cached data. If you don't activate Offline Mode, you won't be able to access any websites on Firefox.
Websites may reload after being cached (1) and websites may not display due to not being cached (2)
For websites not previously accessed, Firefox will report inability to access the server (Server not found)
You should also note that the cached version of the website will not display ads or flash, video. You need to access any website while online to save data for offline web browsing.
When the Internet connection is restored, make sure to disable Offline Mode to browse the web as usual. Lastly, remember not to clear the cache to avoid losing website data and slowing down the browsing experience on Firefox.
As mentioned in a previous Mytour article, users can also save web pages for offline viewing on Firefox, Google Chrome without activating any mode.
If you're using Chrome, you can also perform offline web browsing tricks to access your favorite websites even without an Internet connection.
Wishing you all success!
