Recently, Vivo has released a fresh iteration of the Y series called Vivo Y53s in our local market. Besides its stunning appearance, this device also features many modern technologies upgraded from its predecessors like Y51 or Y50.
Let's explore together what upgrades the smartphone brings, but first, let's briefly touch on the exterior design of this smartphone!
Youthful and eye-catching design suitable for young people
It can be said that the design of Y53s exudes a youthful and eye-catching charm, which has always been a characteristic of the Vivo Y series. Although it's made entirely from Polyme plastic, the finish and color scheme, resembling a mirror finish, make you fall in love at first sight.

The rear camera cluster is designed similarly to high-end Vivo models, making the back look neater and adding a focal point to the design. Combined with the fingerprint sensor placed on the power button, the back of the Vivo Y53s is almost minimalist.
Turning to the front, Y53s features a 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen, Full HD+ resolution with a fairly high brightness of up to 450 nits, similar to the previous Vivo Y51. It's somewhat regrettable that it still has a waterdrop notch display, although it doesn't significantly affect the display quality.

Next up are the upgrades of Vivo Y53s compared to its predecessors.
Exclusive RAM expansion technology
While the RAM capacity on the previous 2 generations remained at 8 GB and 128 GB of internal storage, the Y53s has seen a major change, as it can allocate and utilize a larger RAM capacity from the internal memory.

That's the exclusive RAM upgrade technology previously only seen in high-end Vivo smartphones. This feature allows the Y53s to add an extra 3 GB of RAM extracted from the internal memory. This enhancement boosts the machine's configuration like a tiger growing wings, with a total of 11 GB of RAM.
Specifically, this can be seen as a type of emulation, partitioning memory on ROM and then assigning RAM functions to it. This technology is not new in PCs, but it's still not widely used in mobile devices.

With the powerful Helio G80 configuration and now with massive RAM capacity, the Y53s promises even better multitasking capabilities. Basic apps, games will perform even better, delivering an enhanced entertainment experience.
Significant upgrade in charging technology
Although still a 5,000 mAh battery, the Vivo Y53s has received a significant upgrade in fast charging technology, now up to 33 W compared to 18 W on the Y51. This is very meaningful as it helps users shorten the charging time for the massive battery of this device.

Now you only need 41 minutes to charge 70% of this 5,000 mAh battery and just over 1 hour 30 minutes to reach full charge. This impressive number can be a lifesaver in urgent situations.
Furthermore, Vivo is generous in including a 33 W fast charger in the box, so you won't need to spend extra money on expensive fast chargers.
Camera focuses more on quality
The main camera on the Y53s has undergone a significant change, with its resolution increased to 64 MP instead of the previous 48 MP. Photos taken on the Y53s have better details, improved colors, and with the assistance of two secondary cameras, the Y53s can also blur backgrounds more accurately and capture close-up objects better.

Not only has the resolution been increased, but the camera software on the Y53s is also equipped with more features, from electronic image stabilization (EIS), night mode capabilities, background blur,... Thanks to new algorithms, the main camera on the Y53s now produces more stable photos, reduces blur, and maintains clear subjects. Night photography has also improved in terms of detail and color.
With a 16 MP selfie camera on the Y53s, there's nothing to doubt about, from skin tones, details to even professional background blur simulation. If you enjoy taking selfies, you definitely won't overlook this option.

It can be said that the Vivo Y53s, while not being a high-spec powerhouse, still balances well and effectively meets the essential needs of young users. Since the Y51 was one of the best-selling smartphones in Q1/2021, it's highly likely that the Y53s will continue that trend.
