Black Ops Cold War will offer a cross-generational, cross-platform, and cross-progression experience. If you currently own an Xbox One, your profile, progress, stats, and all your items from the current-gen experience of the game will seamlessly transfer to Xbox Series X when you choose to upgrade.
Black Ops Cold War will continue to expand the content of Call of Duty: Warzone. It introduces items that can be used in both games. Additionally, Warzone players will retain access to Modern Warfare content such as Operators and weapon blueprints.

Gamers can now pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the Microsoft Store. Choose from the Standard, Cross-Gen, or Ultimate digital editions. All digital editions come with The Confrontations Weapon Pack, featuring 5 legendary assault rifle designs for Black Ops Cold War.
Pre-ordering grants early access to the Open Beta and the Sgt. Woods Operator Pack. This pack includes Black Ops SOG operative Frank Woods, a weapon blueprint, equipment, and a Finishing Move usable in both Modern Warfare and Warzone.
Here are the details for each edition:
- Digital Standard Edition ($59.99): Includes the Xbox One version. Players can invest an additional $10 to upgrade to the Cross-Gen Edition, which includes the Xbox Series X version upon release (Note: The Digital Standard Edition is playable on Xbox Series X via backward compatibility but won't include any next-gen features).
- Cross-Gen Edition ($69.99): Includes both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game through a license tied to your Xbox account.

- Physical Standard Xbox Series X Edition ($69.99 USD): Includes the Xbox Series X version of the game. Note: This also includes the Xbox One version of the game.
Pre-ordering the physical edition doesn't grant you any bonuses like the digital version.
